I came across this recipe posted by Better Homes and Garden and I had to give it a try. It’s a great recipe except I reduced the sugar in it….why not. Right? Makes you feel less guilty.
I made a 50/50 butter/chocolate glaze for the cake or you can make the frosting they post on their website. The first link is the Better Homes and Garden recipe with frosting. The second link includes the glaze. Hope you like it!
Grease and lightly flour pans of your choice. 9 x 13 inch or small bundt cake shaped pan.
In a mixer, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
In a large bowl, sift flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cocoa. Set aside.
Add buttermilk, eggs (one at a time) and vanilla. Continue mixing until well blended.
Slowly add in dry mix. Mix well.
Spread evenly into prepared baking pans.
Bake for 30-40 minutes or until it passes toothpick test. If the toothpick comes out clean then it's set.
Allow to cool and flip cakes out of pan to frost or glaze.
Drizzle on glaze or spread frosting on cakes, as desired.
Note: I trimmed some of the cake off to make them all even. Its optional to trim them but makes for a better looking cake.
