Salisbury steak is a classic comfort dish. Serve over rice, polenta, or creamy mashed potatoes.
In a large bowl, mix meat, salt, pepper, Worcestershire Sauce, onions (cooked), garlic powder, bread crumbs, and egg. Stir mixture together.
Shape mixture into four even patties or meatballs.
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Place patties or meatballs into hot oil and cook on each side for 4-5 minutes.
Once all browned, set aside.
Add sliced onions and allow to cook until translucent and caramelized. 10 minutes on low heat.
Add mushrooms and cook. About 5 minutes.
In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch with water and pour into onions and broth.
Re-add patties or meatballs. Reduce heat on low. Cover and allow to simmer for 15 minutes.
Add more salt and pepper to taste and heavy cream. Sprinkle fresh parsley on top.
Serve hot on top of mashed potatoes and a side of veggies.
